
Siyabonga Shelter is a residential facility for women who are victims of domestic violence and other social crimes.
As a Shelter, we are striving for a non – violence community. We accommodate women as from 18 years and above. Women can be accommodated with their children ten years and below.
Women can stay for up to 6 months depending on individual case. Our Shelter is very safe, secure and rehabilitating with a capacity of ten. While in the Shelter women are given an opportunity to look at their lives and make decisions that will improve them.
We recognize the importance of early intervention, preventative work with children, youth, women and their families as well as family reunification and mediation services.
At Siyabonga Shelter we work according to time schedule for the day in order to be able to balance the activities and the free time. In order to assist women to learn more about life, overcome their fears and develop confidence, the following programs are covered:

Women conducted individual Sessions with the Social Worker. This is a powerful platform where Social Worker get to know the client, her strengths and weaknesses rather than when they are in Group Setting.
Individual Sessions allow women to express themselves and they become confident about themselves.
Counselling Sessions are conducted on a regular basis and according to the severity of the case. For some women it takes a very long time to trust and open up. They need to be given time. Patience with clients is needed because they are from different backgrounds
Siyabonga Shelter offers skills programs are traditional beading, knitting, baking and gardening. The Skills Programs is facilitated by the Multi Skill Worker to promote independency and aid with future employment.
Siyabonga Shelter promptly and responsively screens applicants eligibility for services.
To be eligible for services, clients must be victims of social crime and gender based violence and cannot have consumed alcohol or drugs on the day that they are seeking entry into the shelter.
